Literacy Network's Lending Library
Our multi-purpose Library's books meet the needs of adult learners in speaking, listening, reading and writing English. Tutors and learners alike come here for materials to help with GED preparation, grammar and job skills. It has two computers with learning software for English as a Second Language and basic literacy. During the daytime it doubles as a meeting room for tutor-learner pairs. Childcare teachers and the children of Community Literacy learners use it Monday and Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.
Mobile Learning Lab
In Literacy Network classrooms and even in their homes learners can use computers with Lexia SOS and The Rosetta Stone learning software. Rosetta Stone has over a hundred multi-sensory lessons with pictures, text and spoken word for each. Learners can use the microphone to compare their speech against a model. Lexia SOS (Strategies for Older Students) guides learners through a structured, phonics-based program to build skills using some of the same multi-sensory techniques that our tutors use.
