Who is Eligible?
We Offer Three Options for Learning English: Group Classes, Community Tutoring, and Personal Tutoring
Group Classes
Group Classes are held six days a week and cover English as a Second Language Levels 1, 2, and 3. If interested please come! No registration necessary unless noted.If you are interested in Citizenship Class, English for Work, English for Parents or Driver's Education ESL, please contact us.

Community Tutoring

Before, I didn't know how to speak in the past tense or in the future tense, and now I do." - Community Literacy learnerMeet a tutor in a community classroom every week at the same time! Work on a lesson that is made just for you. Childcare is provided. You can study in Community Literacy for 2 hours per week.

The following programs are offered Spring 2010:
- Monday 6-8 pm at Literacy Network
- Tuesday 6-8 pm at Boys & Girls Club Allied Family Neighborhood
- Wednesday 6-8 pm at Literacy Network
- Thursday 10 am-12 pm at Lussier Community Center on Gammon Rd.
- Saturday 9-11 am at Literacy Network
Personal Tutoring
"I really like working with my tutor because she is available often and knows that although there are things that I don't understand, she will try to have us work together to find the answers." - Personal Tutoring LearnerAfter you go to Community Tutoring or Group Classes four times in a month, you can be matched with a personal tutor. Meet the same tutor every week, when and where you prefer! When you are matched with a personal tutor you can continue attending group classes.
Students might wait for a few months to have a personal tutor. You must call us if your schedule, address or telephone number changes. Try to come to classes or Community Literacy while you wait.
Who is Eligible?
- Learners must be 18 or older
- Learners cannot be a student or employee of the University of Wisconsin-Madison or the spouse of a student or employee at the university.
UW employees are eligible for tutoring assistance through the volunteer tutor program at 608.265.2257.
